I'm grateful for great stories, movies that have you on the edge of your seat (Catching Fire), watching the great Sing Off on Hulu, almost any kind of music and Wegman's Sushi!!
I'm grateful for abundant gifts, easy returns (and no, I did not return the gifts I got!), playing with my beloved nephew and niece, family time, best friend time, couple time, the beauty of the DC Botanical Gardens (a bit of summer on a cold day), knowing that I make a difference and always, always the hope a New Year brings!!
I'm grateful for the Amazon order arriving on time, having children in my life at this time of year, the energy people put into lighing up their houses, the delight of friends and family and faith in this world. Good tidings, countless blessings, peace and joy to all!!
I am grateful for all of the ways that holidays inspire reaching out. Cards in the mail, unexpected gifts, donations to worthy causes, kindness to a stranger, smiles, gifts, acknowledeging tough times, encouraging words all help remind us why we are here - to love, support, connect make merry where appropriate!!
I am grateful for completely unexpected surprises!! Thank you Suzanne, Sally, Betty and Tom for sending me flowers and totally making my day. You all are the best!! What a delightful and fun gift!!
I'm grateful for fun ideas, not taking myself too seriously, really noticing progress, singing, holiday cards coming in the mail, reconnecting with old friends and the promise of a new year!
I'm grateful for all of the beauty in this season, great ideas from the amazing members of Bykota, people who love animals, fun at work and being relaxed.
Wow, Wow, Wow!! I have so much to be grateful for. Safe travel to and from Michigan with dry roads both ways. Safe travel around Michigan with lots of snowy dicey roads. Beautiful, snowy scenery everywhere we went. The gathering of the Shaws with great gifts, family time, food, laughter, games and memories. Unexpected, delightful and surprising ways people go out of their way for you. Not reacting to things that used to really get you. Homemade, personal decorations that manage to be meaningful and charming. Knowing that you matter!!
I'm grateful for cute holiday movies with music (Mistle-Tones was tonight's pic), snow that stays around, great motivational material (which I will share in the coming days), a cold that is staying annoying rather than full-blown miserable and being able to wear jeans to work on Friday and tomorrow for our Department Holiday Party. Woohooooo!!
I'm grateful for holiday card in the mail, the anticipation of Shaw Christmas, colorful things everywhere, the smell of popcorn, coffee and vanilla and time for reflection!
We are never more fully alive, more completely ourselves, or more deeply engrossed in anything than when we are playing.

Life is a challenge, meet it! Life is a dream, realize it! Life is a game, play it! Life is love, enjoy it!
Sathya Sai Baba
". . . hidden in our play is the real person we are. When we honor this person, we open our hearts and our minds to all that is important, even sacred, to us. Not what others think is important or fun or playful, but what we truly feel is our play and who we are. For far too long women have taken the high road of responsibility, reliability, accountability and just plain old-fashioned endurance to keep their worlds running." Barbara Brannan
