So my year of love has been an interesting project. It hasn't actually been a year because I started on Valentine's Day last year. While I've had this Recess Girl blog for years, I used to only write every now and then. This project inspired me to write almost daily. It has been fun to pause and think of things that I love. A few things were repeated many times. It has been fun to learn that some of you have been reading regularly and have been able to relate or at least been amused at something I wrote. Please keep reading, subscribe to the blog and comment!!
Tomorrow, I'll start A Year of Gratitude. You may say it is the same thing. In a way it is but in a way it is different. Saying I am grateful for something takes what I love a step further and says "Thanks for bringing this into my life" To me, it's a bit more like a prayer of thanksgiving, a little bit deeper, a little more connected to that energy that blesses us with many wonderful moments in any given lifetime - more than we could ever count!! So, I am thankful for all of the things I've loved this year.
As the year comes to a close, here are some of the things I loved the most in 2012. I love the obvious more than words can say. My beloved partner of nearly 24 years. I love that we now have the chance to make it legal. I love my home, my health my family and some of the best friends anyone could ever hope to have. I love that my little yellow Chapin dog has made it to 17 and has given us so many years of love and joy. I love that my cats Pepper and Gracie provide us with hours of entertainment and cuddles.
I LOVE Thai food, Glee, YouTube and all of the wonderful things that people post on Facebook and in blogs that entertain, inspire and make me stop and think. I love libraries full of an unlimited supply of books, cds, audio books and even e-books. I love celebrations, gatherings and discovering things about people I know. I love hearing people's stories. I love that EMDR has made a difference in my life. I love the thought of still being able to grow and do this better. I love my job. I love the people I get to work with and all of the fun we have & the good work we do. I love that I've been able to travel and that soon, we will take our first trip overseas. I love that we welcomed three new great nieces and a niece in law into our family this year. I love singing with a great group of people and the joy that we bring to others when we perform.
Oh yes, I could go on and on. There are truly so many things that I love. Most of all, I love being here in this time and place. There are certainly things in this world that break our hearts. The end of this year was particularly rough as we remember the horror of Newtown. While there is no way to make sense of this tragedy, it will be a call to action for many. Folks will find meaning by doing something to change the world, help the families or help someone close to them in memory and honor of the victims. I love that we humans do that!! Happy New Year Everyone. Thankful to be able to share this life with you.
